“Bike Week” a new photobook by Joe Greene
Laconia Bike Week is an annual, week long fashion show of feathers, fenders and skulls, where music, food and bars from around the country converge to accommodate the heavy drinking, biker centric crowds.
In the 1990's, I grabbed my Hasselblad, picked a spot at "The Weirs" and photographed these weekend warriors, blue collar workers, cops, tough guys and their girlfriends, strippers promoting their clubs, older bikers with stories to tell and younger ones with kids in tow. Everyone was encouraged to be photographed with their bikes, many insisted on it.
All were dressed for the moment or for the life, skull imagery was ubiquitous.
